Fox Valley
Court Watch

Monitoring domestic violence court proceedings to promote victim safety, public safety, and abuser accountability.

Our Mission

The mission of the Fox Valley Court Watch program is to influence court practices to conform to the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and related laws. Fox Valley Court Watch promotes victim safety, public safety, and abuser accountability.

The Fox Valley Court Watch program monitors the judicial process in domestic violence courts. Court Watchers are trained community members who attend domestic violence court proceedings, observe courtroom practices, and document procedures affecting victims of domestic violence.

Trained volunteers attend public domestic violence court proceedings in Kane and Kendall County courtrooms.

Volunteers complete structured assessment forms about courtroom practices, participants, and the overall court environment.

We organize observations into feedback and reports that help identify patterns and opportunities for improvement to our partners and domestic violence support organizations.

Fox Valley Court Watch depends on trained volunteers who help observe court proceedings and support public accountability of the judicial process. No legal background is required—just a commitment to careful observation and community service.
